Patrick Swayze, 1952-2009

Patrick Swayze gallantly fought pancreatic cancer, and lasted longer than most who are diagnosed with such, but he finally lost the battle at the far too young age of 57. Diagnosed in January of 2008, after a long and brave fight, he passed away Monday evening with his devoted wife, Lisa Neimi, at his side.

Patrick was not only a great dancer and a handsome, talented and entertaining movie and tv actor, but he was also a choreographer, songwriter, singer and producer. An animal and nature lover, devoted husband and blessed with a sense of humor, he had some of the best hair in Hollywood and a bangin' body to die for.

Here are a few of my favorite Patrick Swayze movie moments:

The Outsiders, 1983:

Dirty Dancing, 1987:

Dirty Dancing (with Jennifer Grey), 1987:

Ghost, 1990:

Point Break, 1991:

To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar, 1995:

Three Wishes (lousy movie, good look), 1995:

And finally, in his most recent tv series, The Beast, 2008:

The clip below explains why hundreds of thousands of women will always love and miss Patrick Swayze. This clip is the "Nobody puts baby in a corner" moment from Dirty Dancing. That quote is listed in the AFI's top 100 movie quotes of all time -and to those who didn't get it, explains the title of this post.

If you're gonna have a Patrick Swayze Movie Memorial Marathon, may I suggest the following? My personal 'chick' Swayze faves:

The Outsiders
Dirty Dancing
Point Break
Ghost
To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar
Donnie Darko
(note: small part, very dark movie)

If your husband, son, boyfriend or macho friend is joining you, you may want to include:

Road House
Red Dawn
Youngblood

You really can skip the rest.

We will miss you Patrick. May you forever dance in peace.
